If you read the article they weren't comparing to an ordinary Camaro.
Optioned out the Camaro can be a fantastic car.
Both are also 2+2 front engined V8's without the beneficial weight balance of having a rear transaxel.

The Camaro may not be to my personal taste but the comparision is apples to apples in terms of platform.

Let's not forget if you find a jaguar XK or XKR with little to no miles on it at all,You think paying close to $100k gone hit your pockets for the same price as buying a Camaro? Yeah...That's what I thought😎 lol let alone finding 1 for sale since they only made a few of them

I've had Camaros all my life, 1st, 3rd and 4th generation. And now the Jag 4.2 XKR. And just re-bought my 97 Z28 that I owned 1997-2005. In short, the Jag is better. Better to drive, more economical, interior a lot better. But the Camaro is dirt cheap, got the power and the sound, and from 3rd generation onwards, they can turn corners.
My 97 Z28 has 381k km on it, so needs a bit of work. I'm constantly pleasantly surprised by the simplicity and cheap parts, a DIY's dream. On the Jag, while I still DIY, I know that some day I'll have to use the dealer shop, on the Z28 I can fix it all myself.

If I were to choose one? Money no object: Jag. On a budget: Z28.

Since my Z28 is loud and red, it gets a lot more attention, and small children yell "Ferrari" as I go by. (Picture is from first ownership, 20 years ago)

Yeah, it's just the angle where the sloping rear window that makes it a coupé can't be seen :-)

I took that picture myself on a tripod, came out better that I had thought.

Awesome.
Back when being able to take a good photo was a real skill.
Now in the age of smarphones I don't even bother to take a camera with me.
Someone else can get the picture at the click of a button.

They can afford a new Camaro all day, but let them try buying 1 of these bad boys new with 0 miles on it with no depreciated value LoL you would have to trade in about 5 camaros to buy this XKR😂

American car guys get chocked up see a Camaro or the like in another country. Evokes a patriotic sense of pride. Even if they are not buyers for one back home. Corvettes and Camaro/Trans Am look way cooler in Europe.

It may be that I'm younger, but I never was that big of a fan of a Camaro. I have driven every generation of them, and enjoyed driving many, just have not decided to own one. They are DIRT cheap to operate and repair, reliable, nice looking, etc. Because I did not need the 2+2 nature of them, I owned a Corvette instead. Oddly, at 18, a Corvette was significantly cheaper to insure than an F Body.

No Quarter has a nice Z28 in that photo and apparently have gotten quite the longevity out of it!

I've owned XKRs since this thread was fresh, and have yet to take any of my Jaguars to a dealership. I have bought SDD, a Mongoose, and often spend a lot of time to make stuff work on my own because I hate my local dealer; but I understand the sentiment that you can fix any SBC or LS variant motor having car with ease.

I feel that Camaros are "me too" cars. They were pumped out by the millions to anyone who wanted one.
I don't want that.
Mustangs are also "me too" cars, but not as much as Camaros.
Besides, I'm a Ford guy. The only Chevy I'd want would be a 2015+ Corvette, but I'd probably not want to pay much for it. Give it to me free, or I'll buy something different.

Interesting comment from mr "too many to list" :-)
"me too" car?
I think it's probably a simple money issue. That we Jag owners should be better people than Camaro owners, I don't see that, and I've met plenty of people in both camps...
And I'm sure Jaguar would have pumped out millions if they could find the buyers...
