XKR or XKR Portfolio
Waldo,
I stand corrected. You're right.
I was pretty sure that I remembered reading somewhere that the 2008 XKR Portfolio models included the Alcon Performance Brake Package and Adaptive Cruise Control as standard equipment.
I'm not the only one who thought ACC was standard equipment on the 2008 XKR Portfolio.
Where's my Adaptive Cruise Control?

Europe used the R-Performance name for the top-equiped XKR, which was actually an option pack but it was a very common option. It had the cooled seats with more adjustments and better leather, B&W branded sound system, etc. The base XKR didn't get these as standard, if at all.

The trim spec I saw everywhere is the same as a N/A Portfolio car, including heated/cooled 16-way perforated seats, extended leather, DAB, Bowers & Wilkins, etc.
The spec sheet for my specific car lists "Aerodynamic Kit" as an included option - and I know what that is, and also "R-Dynamic Braking" - which I'm not clear about since I believed all XKRs had the larger brakes.
Does any of this matter? Not really I suppose.
N/A Portfolio and XKR with the R-Performance option are similar inside. There wasn't officially a higher-spec XKR, just the application of some significant options (R-Performance, Speed Pack, Dynamic, etc).
IIRC, the Aerodynamic kit added the front splitter, sill extensions and rear valance extensions, and a bigger spoiler from the Speed Pack upgrade.
All 5.0 S/C cars (XKR, XFR, XJR, F-Type R) had the big 380mm/376mm ATE brakes - I guess its just a name.

They're brake plants. Usually flower in the spring and if it's a good year they're just hanging with pads by September.
Your 2008 XKR Portfolio Convertible appears to be Celestial Black, which a blue-black metallic paint that was exclusive to 2008 XKR Portfolio models. It changes shades like a chameleon depending on the angle of the sunlight. At night it appears to be black. Very cool!
2008 XKR Portfolio models came from the factory with 20" polished Cremona wheels. Your wheels appear to be Cremonas that were refinished black. When it comes time to refurbish them, I'd match the body color or have them powder coated bright chrome to match the side trim.
Please post a photo of your driver's door sill. That'll prove it's a Portfolio. Does it have Adaptive Cruise Control? Please post a photo of your steering wheel. ACC has two rotary controls on the right side. Thanks,
Stuart

It isn’t mine, I’m going to look at it.
It has the Portfolio sill and adaptive cc.
Guy listed it as “Blue” and sure looks blue in the pic, but super cool that it shifts like that!
84k miles but he did most of the heavy lifting in the 4 years he’s had it. SC, trans, coils/plugs, injectors and at least the control arms and shock mounts, didn’t mention bushings. Also the coolant reservoir.
He’s asking $21,5 which seems a bit high for 84k mi, gonna try to nab it for $17k-ish.

Wife is already mad I’m kicking one of her cars out of the garage. She’d be big mad if I went over $20k.
the 2008 being a 4.2 has less HP and probably less likely to have timing chain + water pump issues of the 2010s...(more reliable with less ongoingmaintenance)
good luck

Landed on the 08 prortfolio since I’ll drive it til it gives up the ghost.
I have a US 2008 XKR Portfolio Coupe but the door sill plates say "Jaguar", not Portfolio". The window sticker says Portfolio. Celestial Black, Alcons, 20" Cremonas, adaptive cc, Bowers and Wilkins. luxe interior. Mine also has the optional lumpy, shrinking, leather dash. Afaik one could not order the special paint on a non-Portfolio.

You can verify your VIN at the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's website
HERE. It will tell you if your car is a Portfolio Model.
Please post a photo of your window sticker so we can determine if it is a genuine "Monroney" sticker printed at the factory or a fake printed by a used car dealer.

Your "Jaguar" sill plates make me suspect that your 2008 XKR isn't a Portfolio. Your VIN will determine if it is.

This is what will be on the sticker if it truly is a Portfolio:
Now, mine is an ‘08 so an ‘09 will look a tad different as Alcons were a $5500 option that year.
Also, I used that site and it doesn’t recognize the Port indicator anymore in the 9th space.
(I verified from original window sticker then on the actual car just now).
I assure you my vin is correct.

I expected more from this report.
I also checked NHTSA for recalls HERE. This is what I got:
