Hello to everybody. Would need some help to identify the engine block of a clients jaguar XK120 from 1954. The engine was changed some years ago and is not the original one. The cylinder heads are coming from a c-Type Model but I´m not finding any information
about the engine blocks. I even git a picture from the client, the number shows 7167531-S or 7 I 67531-S. Is this number close to the gear bell the correct engine block number?
Correct but C type cam badges do not make it a "C" head. Look in the spark plug valley and see if there is a raised letter C. Also look in the area behind the distributor and you will see the engine size on the block. Jaguar did not start stamping the number on the flange until 1970.
Nope that is a head from a 3.4L XK150. Look beside the distributor on the block. It will say in raised letters what the displacement is. The head you show is def. not a 'C" head.

ok, thanks. Will meet the owner tomorrow and will take a look!
I have another question. In the homolgation papers is shown an engine number like this: B2329/8. As I found out this could be a number from a MK7 from 1950 to 1954 ?

It is 4.2 litre block. The number on the block shows F245 too. Is this any other identification number?
You mentioned to search for a C Letter on the head. Here are some pictures. Is this the code for a c-type head?
GC 479 on the top and C 2153 at the backside.
No you would see a large raised 'C' in the middle of the head. You have a real challenge on this one--sort of a bitsa. Even the bolts are a mixed bag--note the metric bolt in your pic. Best of luck!
