Default Missing front marker lights?

Hi all,

Just starting my search for an XK120 or XK140. Just to make my life difficult, I insist on yellow, but although I find a few references to "Primrose Yellow", it is not clear that was ever an original color.

I came across this one (pic below), which seems to check all my requirements. However, the front end pictures look a little odd. Every XK140 image I have seen had the high mounted "side lights" (I think that is what they are called), on the front fenders ("wings"), but this one does not. I did a fair bit of searching, and came across replacement fenders, as well as "weld on" side light housings, so my guess is that perhaps someone wound up replacing the fenders, but didn't go all the pay by including the sidelights.

So - any chance this "no sidelight" version is original (USA car)?

Thanks,
Chris.

Just a poor restoration or a modded car. Bumper over riders are from a ? and note that they have mixed clear and yellow turn signals! BTW Primrose is a Jaguar color (ur) but not during that period.

They always had the little top lights on the wings. When I bought my 150, the body shop tried to create new top wing light housings (even though the proper ones are available) and I had to grind them off to replace with the proper shape. Rust loves that top are of the wing and would rot out the light housing from iunderneath. If they messed this up...what else will you find wrong with the car.

Great, thanks for the replies. I got some more photos, the under-side looks a little dodgy too, at least to my untrained eye... I think it's a pass, time to keep looking...

Cheers,
Chris.

Oh wait, maybe not. Still learning about these cars - they really used wooden floorboards?

Chris.

Yes, real wooden floorboards back in the day.
