Question New member - Needs Help

Hi. I'm new here. See the URL below:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...rophead-97549/

My current (first!) problem with the Jag is the trunk doesn't unlatch. The car has extensive manuals and service records. I could use them to try and figure out a fix for this BUT all the doc is in the trunk!!!!!

The button will push ok and some times the passenger side corner comes up a half inch or so. From this I can tell tell it latches at each corner. I can see there is a cable involved.

Any suggestions?

Al

Al,

These pics of the lock components may help you figure out how to release it:

It looks to be a single cable with adjuster going to each of the two corner locks. Possibly one or both cables have too much slack to pull the blocks?

Thanks for the photos That helps a lot. I can just see the cable and pulley on the passenger side. I was hoping I could pull on that cable to release the other side. I can clearly see from the photos that won't work.

Al,

The simplest way could be to drill a small hole directly above the driver side lock and flip the pulley open with a rod through the hole as a lever. Filling and refinishing the hole is a pain but a lesser risk than possibly distorting the trunk lid trying to get to it from the slightly raised passenger side.

We used to remove seats and open compartment from interior and remove hardura on boot lid and remove handle bolts from inside, open and fix.

Neither this, nor trying to remove the lid lining/card/Hardura is feasible in the DHC's.

See here for how I solved this problem.
