Default xk 150 fixed head

I have an XK 150 fixed head coupe. I started a frame-off restoration several years ago. It is still in various stages of "disassembly". What do you think it's reasonable value would be?

Welcome to the forum Johnny K's,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Center to XK120 XK140 XK150 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Some pics and a description of work completed would help to get better advice.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Basket cases vary as there is no guarantee all parts are there. Depends on scale of disassembly and prior condition before teardown. Will have to be seen to evaluate and hopefully you will find the right buyer. Considering cost of professional restoration can be $100K let alone over $50K for self restoration, which actually lessens resale.

Default restore values and costs

I agree with Larry K, Jag Fixer...
and..are you asking value now, as is..or possible value if you fully restore it..both really are necessary to have some idea. And as said, it depends in both cases on many things..value now depends on all the parts and pieces and the condition of such including frame, rust, body, upholstery and all the little bits and pieces, and of course engine and engine history and condition. carbs etc. A restored value depends on the level and accuracy of restoration. Yep a full restoration to concours level will be 80-100K. The plus is that a buyer interested in that level may have the big bucks to purchase, the minus is rarely will you get your costs coverered. A restoration to "very nice driver", will have a lower resto cost, but also a lower sale value and of no interest to a concours level buyer as they would really have to start over. Advice is to restore because you like it, not so much as investment. Keep as original as possible: save old parts. As to value you will need to review auction results, ads in the classics magazines, ebay and more. Values vary tremendously depending on everything including who wants it and how bad do they want it. In Pennsylvania look for the Brit car clubs near you, meet those folks and go to their events. Folks who have or have had Jags are more likely to want another: it is addicting. (as you can see by Larry K's list of past owned cars!
