My passenger backrest was going down but not forward. I pulled out the module and took it to Darrell Turner in San Diego, phone 858-649-9090. He fixed it for $50. Apparently it's quite common for these POS to have broken circuits.

Darrell re-soldered the broken lines, cleaned it up, and epoxied the edges of the board.

Since most of you live outside the SD area, simply call him and mail it to him.

Was quoted by Jag Bits.com $800 for a used module.

BTW, he does this stuff for a living. Ex-Navy electrician.

 

Darrell repaired mine with a 3 day turn-around plus shipping. Much better than searching for a JY replacement.

Has he expanded beyond seat modules?

 

Not sure. He had finished working on a swimming pool circuit board when I arrived.

My fob is not working and was told it's the security module. Might call him to see if that's something he can look at.

 

Darrell fixed my seat module and it works great. Highly recommend giving him a try.

 

it is amazing what some places charge for USED or NEW parts when they know there are people out there now that can just fix the old stuff and that stuff work as well or better than new. You would think it would drive down the prices a little.

The driver's seat module box has slipped out from under my seat. As far as I can tell, the seat adjustments are working fine, but the box obviously isn't secured beneath my seat as it should be. Looks like someone tried an adhesive on it already as the residue is apparent.

Where is this box supposed to be secured under the seat and is there a part that holds it in place that may have snapped off on mine?

 

I guess the vast majority of car owners don't realize there are alternatives to "oem" or they don't access forums like this where the knowledge resides. They're easy money for the dealers' parts departments.

 

The box is held to the bottom of the seat by a couple 10mm bolts. The threaded holes should still be there.

 

These bolts will eventually break the plastic and the module will be on the car floor. The box can be bought at a Jag dealer $10. When you reinstall, cushion the box with rubber washers.

Anyone know the part number for this seat module housing? My Jag shop has not seen the box housing (without the guts) sold separately.

Recently purchased a 2003 XK8 Convertible.... passenger power seat and both heated seats did not function. I swapped the Passenger seat module with the driver's side.... and the failure followed the module... After much researching here on this very helpful forum.... I decided to tackle this myself... Initially I opened up the module and thought it looked ok.... However a much closer inspection under magnification revealed 2-3 broken traces on the PC board.... in the area all the others here have experienced... and yes they were VERY small breaks... barely noticeable....


Instead of trying to repair the broken traces... I soldered a jumper wire over the traces.... and it worked!!!!.....


Here are pics of my successful repair.... two small pieces of wire and a bit of solder and all of 15 minutes....(be sure to scrape away the PC board coating to get down to the copper ...and a touch of flux is good too).


Conclusion -- the passenger seat functions are all correct. fore/aft, etc, etc. PLUS -- both Passenger and Drivers heated seats function!!!!

 

I should note that prior to the repair, my passenger seat headrest and lumbar functions were working properly.... The problem was only the fore/aft movement of the back and the base.... plus the heated function did not work. The switch for the heated seats did not illuminate and both front seats did not heat.

 

My driver seat recline mode was not working. After I read several posts on Jaguar Forums I determined it was more than likely the power seat module. After I unplugged the module (the black plastic case) I noticed it had a piece of the plastic broken which exposed part of the inside of the module. Apparently, this is common with these modules, the plastic gets brittle and breaks.
I mailed my seat module to Darrell in San Diego. His turned around time was great! He accepts payment in advance via PayPal. A very easy fix. Now my seat works perfectly! All for $50! AND.... I'm a little more knowledgable about seat modules!

Thanks again to this forum. The traces on the bottom of this PCB appear to just disappear with age. I had no warning. One day the drivers seat was working fine; the next it began to drift and click as though haunted. I soldered new traces on any questionable connections and then added a dab of hot glue to make sure the wires remained seated. The seat is working well once again.

Just got my seat modules back from Darrell. They now work flawlessly, and the boards have been further protected from re-wearing of the repaired traces. Passenger seat would recline, but not come back up.

 

My 2003 XK8 passenger seat forward/back and back recline work but there's no response to the headrest control. No noise. No movement. Where's the control and/or fuse for this?

 

Did you ever get the security module repaired and did you know what was wrong?

I have the same issue and would like to know where to start.
Im in sweden so I am not any competition.
