Hi Randy ,
The fault you have is often attributed to the brake lamp switch which is actually two micro-switches in one casing , one for the brake lamps and the other for cancelling the cruise control , there is two ways of fitting a new switch , the hard way and my easy way .
Hope this helps

Easy is a relative term...
There is a write up with pics linked in the Sticky:

P/N should be: LJB6420BB
Partsgeek and a number of others have it. Cheapest I've seen is Gaudin at $120.

Hi Randy ,
This is my easy way , should take half an hour tops.
Remove the top 8mm nut securing the switch
Tie a long piece of thin strong cotton to the now exposed thread securely
Remove the bottom 8mm nut securing the switch
Reach up under the pedal box and gently pull the switch away into the footwell
Disconnect the cable connector from the old switch and replace on the new switch
untie the cotton from the old switch and tie securely to the new switches top thread
You will need an assistant for the next bit , get him/her to apply a gentle tension to the cotton while you are feeding the switch back to it's original position , when he/she has the threads located through the holes , place a nut on the lower thread a few turns and then undo the cotton and replace the top nut , gently tighten both nuts and hey presto , the jobs done ,
Hope this helps
