Default 03 gas smell at the fuel rail?

The last few times I have been around the jag, chasing down the rad fluid leaks I thought I smelled gas. I did today on the work at a red light but was near a gas station so thought it was that. Popped the hood here at work to check my octopus hose fix for leaks and smelled gas again. I sniffed around and when I got down on the pass fuel rail I could smell gas, went around to drivers rail, no smell. I would think I should not be smelling gas on the pass rail. What is about to go out on me. I do have a recent check eng light that I have not had looked at.

Default Found the leak

I think I found the leak. I can smell it in the car when I am driving. This is on the pass side fuel rail, middle of the rail. Does not look like a injector, what it it? Gas is puddling on top of it. What is involved in fixing it?

No expert here but this sounds like one of Jaguar's open your wallet and bend over repairs.

Good luck..

brgjag. Difficult to be sure from your photograph, but it looks very much like the pulsation damper in maxwdg's post I pointed to. Have a look at that post, see if his pictures look like your pictures, (in post #16) and then you'll be a bit closer to knowing how to solve the problem. If it isn't that, then there's plenty of expertise here (as you know) to put you in the right direction.

It is in the same place as the part in post 16 but mine looks diff and faces straight up from the rail. Look at the top of mine in my pic as compared to the top of that one.

Looks like the S/C and non S/C fuel rails are slightly different :

I'm out of my depth here - just trying to be helpful, but if your problem seems to be from where my arrows are, it IS the damper, and I don't think a complete fuel rail is still available even at a silly cost, so it's either "weld em up" or find a used one from a breaker ("parter-out" in your language ?)
Cheers,
David.

Thanks for the help! Mine is the 4.2 non super charged. Where you have the error is not where my leaking is coming from. Mine is in the middle of the rail. I did not check to see if the other drive side rail has the same thing.
You mean a fuel rail even from a dealer is no longer avail??? This car is not that old.

on my fuel rails the part leaking, on the pass side anyways is between the 2nd and 3rd fuel injectors. It must be this dampener thing.

Default pics

these are not the best pics but it is the device between 2 and 3 injector. It is just a little bowl like thing connected on the rail, the top of it does not look like the ones in the pics in that thread, post 16, but prob still the same thing, mine just a newer pc of **** that breaks.
If you look at mine, the top has a couple of finger like things that seem to hold it together. I get the seal under it is shot. So these appear can be capped as they do not harm performance of the car???
I will take it to my shop that works on these damn cars, and other European cars and see if they have run across this and were able to fix it.

silly question but the gas is coming out the top, if I let it stop leaking and cleaned it up so something could adhere to it couldn't it just have some type of sealant applied to the top that gas can't eat away and it be that easy to stop???

I have no idea but if you go this route JB Weld makes a two part epoxy for gas tank repairs.

well I looked closely at this thing, looks like a little round bowl hanging off the rail. There is a ridge around the thing and above it you can see fingers snapped up over the ridge. That tells me that bowl can come off and the O-ring in it can be replaced?
