'03 XK8 Brake upgrade question
Hello and Merry Christmas to all!, I have been thinking about putting a set of XKR brembo calipers on the xk8... does anyone here know if this is a fairly easy modification to do? I realize I will have to use the "R" front rotors @255mm but, I was not sure if the brembo calipers would have the correct bolt spacing to just bolt right up or not. I also know I will have to change the brake lines as they attach differently. If any of the expert techs out there have an answer, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. Thank you in advance.

Ease of installation depends on your mechanical skill.
To install them on your car, you need the caliper mounting holes tapped out on the front spindles/uprights. The holes are already there, where your current calipers mount to, but they need threads tapped. The thread size is 14mm x 1.5
Here are the part # for the caliper bolts:
HXD6064EA
C2C6745
If you find the earlier Brembos with brackets, you won't need to tap threads as they already have tapped holes in the brackets. Both of these styles have the correct bolt spacing as long as they're from the X100 XKR or X308 XJR R1.
Brembos from the X350 XJR and StypeR have different bolt spacing and will not work.
You will also need to modify/trim the dust shields since the rotors are a larger diameter. Or you can get the proper shields.
If they don't come with brake lines, you can get the stainless braided lines from Goodridge part # 38103.
Don't know which wheels you have but if they don't clear the brakes then you will need wheels that do or use spacers.
The front rotors are 355mm, not 255. Rears are 330mm.

THNK YOU STEVE!... Sorry about my misprint on the 355mm dia., you are correct. I am confident I'll be able to tap out the holes to 14mmX 1,5mm. as well as trimming the dust shields and doing the hose mods. I'll do my best to find calipers from an XKR although I see more from the XJR's. can you please explain a bit about the XJR "R1"?... is this the "first year" ? As for my wheels, I have the 19" Apollo's so they should be ok. Again, THANKS for the quick and detailed reply!

R1 was the option for the Brembo brake and BBS Milan wheel package on 01-03 XJR's.
Basically any Brembos that were on 98-06 XKR (X100 body style) and 98-03 XJR (X308 body style) will work.
The newer 04+ XJR and STR Brembos are more plentiful and cheaper but won't work.
