Default 03 XKR brake pads

Had a look thru the search engine and cant find anything that answers my question. Apologies if its there and I've looked in the wrong places.

The questions simply is, what brake pads are best suited to the 4.2 XKR? My recent annual MOT gave an advisory that I had 3-4 mm left on the front pads, so I want to replace them now. However, I have no idea what's the recommended choice.

All thoughts greatly appreciated.

Jules,

I know you'll want a UK supplier but might want to avoid OE Brembo for cost alone. Even the guide pins are a terrifying price at £50 per corner. Here's a Brembo brake pad supplier:

Brembo / Performance Brake Pads (Front) / Jaguar XK 8 / Euro Performance Car Parts

Hawk pads have good reports on the forum and are available from:

HB193G.670 - Jaguar XKR & XJR-S - Brembo - Front - DTC60 - Cambridge Motorsport Parts

I needed a front pad set in hurry before going down to Malaga last month and fitted these:

JAGUAR XKR BREMBO/R PERFORMANCE FRONT BRAKE PADS MXD1550AB - Detailed item view - Jaguar Spares Northeast

Decision process was driven by them being in stock and less than 10 miles away! However, I did some serious mountain work and fast driving for over 3000 miles without fade or serious brake dust.

Plenty of choice and price range available. The only ones that seem to get varied reports are EBC. Members with experience of using this brand will have more information.

Jules,

The JTIS Brembo Brake Pad Change section PDF has a good diagram of the 'R' Clips and Pins.

JTIS - XK8 BREMBO Front Brake Pads.pdf

The Pins seem to wear easily so worth a quick visual check of condition in advance of doing the pad change in case you need to get replacements.
