Default 05 xkr ac and cooling fan

Hello all,
Can someone please confirm which of the 2 fans is the ac fan? The drivers side fan is not coming on at all and mechanic said he replaced the fan module but it's still not coming on. I want to confirm which fan this is please. Also, has anyone an idea of what can cause this fan not to work even if there is power to the fan? I've an overheating problem, had the thermostat and water pump replaced and now the cooling fan module.
Cheers
Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

The fan assembly is probably next.

Both fans are used to cool the car and that includes the AC condenser. They are wired so that the fan module can supply power in series or in parallel under control of the ECM based on the coolant temp sensor information. Turning the AC on also causes the fans to run. Series causes them to run at half speed, parallel both run at full speed.

They do not run one at a time.

If you have one fan on and one off and have replaced the module, which I make the assumption contains the two relay, then you have a wiring or fan problem.

I also make the assumption that your '05 works like my '02.

Great thanks for the info. Do you know which fan is the ac fan? Is it driver or passenger side?

The XK uses a different setup than the ones you are thinking of, the fan module will always run both fans at the same time, or none at all. The fan control module will run them at different speeds, depending on engine temp and aircon use. If you are getting power at the fan plug then pulling and testing your fan motor is the next step.

The Series-Parallel Operation is for 97-02 Cars. 03 and newer Cars have a Variable Speed fan controller.

If you haven't got it already, this is the link to the 2003 and later workshop manual (this link is also on the DIY repair sticky)

But does both the fans run at the same time?
