Although I am not a new owner, I just have not performed much work on this car due to be under a warranty...but upon doing my first oil change yesterday I noticed that there seemed to be a hose missing from the expansion or coolant overflow tank. There is a hose coming from the thermostat assembly to the tank but then there is an open nipple next to this connection...and this is what appears to be missing a hose....is it?

I have looked at several cooling system parts diagrams, but none show connections....just lists parts.

Appreciate any help.

You are not missing a hose. That extra nipple is blocked off. I forget what its original use was, but like an appendix, is no longer needed.

The early XK8's had two Bleed Hoses:

1. Expansion Tank to Thermostat Housing
2. Expansion Tank to Radiator



The Expansion Tank to Radiator Bleed Hose was discontinued.
