Default 1997 Jaguar xk8 wiper arm removal

I posted this question before but being new maybe I didn't post it correctly. I was going to ck all the hoses from the wiper nozzles down to the reservoir but could not get the wiper arms off. The nuts were no problem but was afraid I might crack the plastic if I pried too hard under the arm. Anyway I did take the wheel off and inner fender guard and cleaned the reservoir out as best I coud, lots of slimy stuff but seem to clean out ok. Tried the pump wih the hose disconnected that goes to wiper nozzles and it put out a good stream. Hooked the hose back up and tried it but nothing. Took the nozzle off the driver wiper and tried it but still no spray. So left with taking the plastic cover under the wipers off and that is where I am stuck. Nuts no problem arms a problem. They are soaking in WD40 anti rust to loosen them hopefully. Any ideas how to pry the arm off without cracking the plastic cover around them ? Bob

I had the same problem with one of mine. I found a faucet handle puller (like, for handles on bathroom sink faucets - a few bucks at Home Depot) in one of my tool boxes and it popped the wiper arm right off. There's a tee under the plastic cover that gets brittle and breaks - replacing it fixed mine, and I'll bet that's the prob with yours. A generic vacuum tee will work fine, though matching the diameter may be a challenge. If the hose is too loose on the replacement tee, secure it with a cable tie.

I use a screw-type ball joint separator, comes away easily with no damage.

I use a Wiper Arm Removal Tool.

The simplest available is this type ......

......... but I prefer the universal pattern as it gets into more awkward clearances:

As you've checked the pump and supply hose delivers a good stream, the probable cause of no water at the outlet is blocked duckbills. These are the three neoprene outlets at the jet block on the wiper arm and regularly block. One arrowed in red in the diagram:

A blow through with a can of compressed air (the kind sold for PC cleaning) usually resolves the problem.

Great ideas, thanks for all replies. I haven't checked the t connection yet because I need to get the wiper arms off, but like the air pressure for the nozzles too. I have a compresser but probably too much.

Of the two wiper arm pullers above which one do you think would work for the 97 xk8 and clear without cracking the plastic tray under the arm mounts ?

I've used the universal pattern type (lower picture in GGG's post). It'll make a gut-wrenching 'crack' noise when it gives, but the wiper arm will then pull off.

Default Remove Jet

Does anyone know how to get the jet off of the wiper arm? My arm broke and I have the replacement in hand, but I need to take my old jet off and put on the new arm.

I don't have an XK8/XKR now to check but aren't the two halves not simply screwed/bolted together?

The replacement Screenwash Jet is listed separately in JEPC as P/N GJA8959AB so it must be possible to dismantle it.

Solved my own question. It just pried open. I was thinking those were screws too, but its held on by the plastic arm wrapping around and snapping into a groove.
