just put my first jaguar on the road. barely made it home. throwing multiple coil failure codes. have not had a chance to check it out yet. any ideas where to start ?

Not the most pleasent way to begin your Jaguar experience.

The V8 coils do fail, and a 1997 is getting up there in age for them to need replacing anyway.

The spark plugs, as in old/wrong heat range/wrong type/etc can cause the coils to not work, which will also throw a code.

If it were mine, and for peace of mind, I would replace all spark plugs and coils. That way, many years of enjoyment will follow.

Stay away from the "cheapy" coils, as I read here, they are just no good.

Maybe repost this in the XK8 section, and you will get flooded with suggestions/choices.
