1997 XK8 GDO inop
I got a new garage door opener and tried to program it on my 1997 XK8. The red light will not set, it just blinks slowly no matter what you do. I cleared the system by pressing down the #1 and #3 button, but cannot get the red light to come on steady so I can programme my door opener.
Has anyone heard of this or can anyone give me and idea of what is wrong.
Thanks,
Merrill

GDO will not work
Yes, I know that the new door opener has a rolling code, but I cannot get the gdo red light to stay on solid rather than blinking to even try to program the door opener. My 1999 Mercedes-Benz gdo worked just fine. When I press the gdo in the Jaguar and hold it down the red light should stay on solid, then I can begin to program the door opener. All it does is blink slowly, it never does the slow blink to rapid blink as described in the owners manual.

I got similar result on first attempt, even held both buttons until homelink quit flashing entirely. Retried at different angle and got the rapid blink within maybe 15 seconds.
Still doesn't work, though. I know the opener is rolling code, having successfully programmed the following to it:
03 S-type
05 S-type
03 Ford F150
when pressed, button 1 gives steady red on "garage" button. Does 1995 ovrhd console just not support rolling code? I never got the 2 sec rapid flash prior to steady I expected after it took the program.
