Unhappy 1997 XK8 won't start

Pulled out of garage tonight for first time in a long time. She flashed some codes but was able to clear them. Took a short drive to our Friday Night impromptu show at Culver's. Had no trouble going or coming home. Pulled up in front of garage and shut down. Went in the house for a few minutes came out to put her away and she won't start. Showing codes P0405- P0328 & P0333. I know what these are (knock sensors both banks and the EGR) but I'm curious as to why it would do this after running perfect just prior to failure. It sat at the get together for about 2 hours and started right up when I left for home. It's also showing Engine Fault on the dash panel.

Bob,
I'm in a similar predicament with mine and all I can suggest if it's been sat for some time , it'll be the battery, regardless of "fully charged". Mine was on a trickle charger for several months, started first turn and ran for a week before not starting when needing to move parking position in the garage for a week. See the thread "Assortment Of Woes" for my details. I thought it may have been battery related but didn't really have the time to fully investigate before leaving out of country. All I can suggest is disconnect battery and fully condition it before trying again.

Please clarify 'won't start'. Does the starter engage and spin the engine?

Problem solved even though I don't really know what caused it. Went out this morning ran my scanner and the same codes appeared. Tried to clear them twice and on the second attempt they cleared. Started her up and all's good with the world. Running perfectly. I guess it was just one of those pesky Jaguar ghosts coming out to bug me and keep me on my toes. But I still wouldn't want to own anything else because I still get compliments on their looks.

Yes, I've had that problem too before. But this time it wasn't the battery. Thanks anyway.

Codes p028, p0333, p0405 are back again, so I guess I'm going to have to take care of the knock sensors and egr. One good thing I guess is there's no loss of performance.
