1998 XK 8 surges we she is lugging 2 k up hills or at 45-50. I shift down and it helps. Where is the gas filter? Could it be that?

Good day

Dont know if this will help but I did some cleaning of connectors around the throttle body. When I started the car she pulsed at idle. Went up and down in rev's. I shut the car off and disconnected the positive terminal from the battery and touched the negative with it to reset / ground the electronics. It is a procedure that has been written about here. The pulsing stopped and all was well. Of course you have to reset the windows as well after this.

with a window reseting tool.
AKA index finger press and hold each window function each window up/down. when it reaches end of travel and stops continue holding for 5 seconds. youll useally hear/feel a subtle click when reset. this resets the 1 touch feature, and 10mm drop on door opening

Angry Surging

My XKR 1999 - surges whilst in park or neutral. I also get the feeling she ‘pulls’ slightly in drive. The warning lights come on and off at random which is frustrating - any ideas?

The reset procedure is to disconnect the negative cable from the battery and touch to the positive post for several seconds. Then reconnect and turn ignition on for 30 sec. before starting.

...that was reopened by someone who is experiencing a surging problem like the original poster. What's wrong with that?

It's a mess of a thread with a mess of answers.

If you can add help then please do...

Search might work rather better and also check the TSBs.
