1998 XK8 Tensioner & Secondary Timing Chain Clatters
New style tensioner require new bolts that are shorter as the longer old bolts will bottom out rfore not get tensioner tight to block leaving an oil leak which would result in not enough pressure to make the tensioner work correctly.
Thanks Scott, good catch on your part. This was one of the first questions I ask after the initial work was completed. Looking back it should have been confirmed when we reopened the covers. I plan to order a new tensioner and the shorter bolts tomorrow. When it's opened up again this week, I'm going to compare the parts and be double sure everything is right and working properly. Does the KTM relate to MX or dirt bikes? Just curious, I have a little orange in my garage too.
