Default Advice for Wind Blocker

Morning,
I’ve looked through several past posts about wind blockers, but most information is several years old.
Im getting ready for some Fall riding up here in Maine. I’m looking for recommendations for
for best brand(s) or types of wind blockers.
Thanks in advance!

My wife and I took nice 2 week tour of New England and Maritime Canada last October and we never felt the need for a wind blocker. To me the XK8 has a fairly calm cabin when the top is down.

We have owned my wife's 2006 XK8 convertible for just over 7.5 years now. The most cost-effective wind blockers have always been a couple of baseball caps....

Default Dave CR in Scotland is my “Go To Guy” for weird requests

+1 to the comments above. The X100 has a very quiet cabin with the convertible top down.

But what the hell, if you want it go for it. Dave CR is my man for weird requests. See link below.

He even got me a big bore stainless steel exhaust.
Not great on communication but always came through.... eventually. Totally trustworthy.

I actually bought a 48"x20"x1/4" polycarbonate sheet, and made one myself. It has a few extra strap holes due to a little trial and error fitting, but works great regardless.
I can tell you, it's a WORLD of difference having it on when the top is down, especially when it's cold out! I've driven in low 40's-mid 30's temps, and with the heater on it was more than comfortable. With no wind whipping around and thru the cabin, the heater works very, very well with the top down...also quite a bit quieter, to where you can actually carry on a conversation with a passenger, or cell phone conversation, without having to yell.
Night driving is also quite improved, because the wind isn't blowing in my eyes.

Mine is pretty much a clone of the Windblox. Simple, inexpensive and works very well.
Except mine cost me about $25.00, and maybe a few hours to fabricate and fit.

I have the Adamesh deflector and although it does reduce the wind turbulance, compared to the wind blocker on my Volvo C70, it is not terribly effective. However, I think it is a good looking accessory, it is relatively easy to install, and, most of the time is quite stable. Best solution for those crispy Maine mornings is windows up, heater blasting, and a hoodie.

Man, I'm torn on this one. Had one for our old BMW E36 and it was WONDERFUL! Figured the XK8 would be the same. However, I too notice that the XK8 really DOES have an unusually calm cabin with the top down.

Have a road trip planned for the very end of October with the wife. Out of Louisville to Charlston, SC for a British Show, on to Hilton Head to work on a friend's drag car and then back up to Maggie Valley and the Smokey Mountains on our return. As usual, was assuming we'd be running top down the whole time so a wind blocker is on my eBay watch list. Now, I'm not so sure. First, the XK8 may not actually NEED it and second, it may be too COLD by that time anyway... and $289 WILL will buy a lot of RUM!

Nice accessory to have someday anyway though.

My vote goes to the rum, or perhaps bourbon.....

Instead of the wind blocker, my wife wears her 12volt heated jacket liner plugged directly into the cigarette lighter socket. If she is comfy, I’m good with that

Maincoast, I wasn't sure if you are joking or not, never heard of that before. Picturing a guy plug in his wife just so he can cruise with the top down is kind of funny (and a hell of a lot cheaper than a fur coat, right? ;-))

Otoh, if it's real good for you, neat idea & she sounds like a great co pilot!!

My wife uses her heated motorcycle jacket.....for real. Easy fix to keep her warm on a cool ride

My wife and I will be up your way in the Jag later this week. Bar Harbor Friday night, then up the coast into New Brunswick. Going to stop in Bethel next Friday on our way home.

Interesting solution to the problem. How did you attach it to your seat backs or whatever. Some of the blockers seem to use screw on brackets.
