I really need a manual too so if anyone knows how I can get one please let me know.
Below the shifter I have 2 black buttons that can be depressed to turn off the red light. I dont know what either is for. Are they standard on 2001 xk8 convertible? I would love to know what they do. Any help greatly appreciated.

Check the 'sticky' near the top of the forum page for owners manual download. The left button is cruise control, the right one is sport mode, which raises the shift point revs in auto.

 

One on the left is cruise control on/off. The one on the right is Sport Mode on/off.

 

If you mean these two .......





They are the Sport Mode and Cruise Control switches.

Wanna see something interesting? Turn off sport mode. Empty road ahead, cruise at 33mph. Floor it, fun right?

Now turn sport mode on (button protrudes, red light on) do same thing.

First thing I must have a stretched loose throttle cable. This car is just sloooow and I feel why is this gas pedal so hard to push? I've got to look that up for procedure and or video. Then I'll try your suggestion. Thank you.
