Default 2000 XK8 Door Speaker (lower) Access

I have seen the video for door panel removal, and as simple as it seems, I would rather remove the speaker grill to gain speaker access. I have carefully looked behind the grill, and am concerned that any more pressure will result in breakage rather than release for the grill.

Is there a trick to grill removal that I can't figure out, or are they "fixed" and speaker access requires door panel removal?

I've become quite good at removing my speaker covers without removing the card. I've recovered them many times trying to get the right look.
Unscrew the bottom two screws under panel, then pry out a little underneath. Then I sort of rock panel side to side and I pull down. Don't pull out. Pull down with a little tilt away from bottom. There are only two tabs and a rounded sort of tab above the speaker. You can flex it a bit to put it back on.

JTIS shows 4 screws fixing the speaker grill to the trim pad. I had my door pad removed a few months ago but never paid attention to how the grill was mounted. I'm sure someone else will chime in on how best to remove.

Seriously! I've had my lower speaker door covers off many times. Mine has two screws underneath and two tabs that slide into slots on each upper edge and a partial rounded tab that fits up in a groove above the speaker. Mine had no other fasteners. It feels like it may break buy pulling out bit it's a fiber board that can flex. Just don't pull away from speaker pull more downward and out. The tabs will pull out.
I don't think they changed the design from year to year. There are however four screws that hold the speaker. If removing the speaker, the retaining clip will have to be removed as well it holds the window switches in the door handle. It's screwed to the speaker surround and screwed to the window control switch.
