2000 XK8..has blown engine...need help to find a motor

Greetings,

I just purchased a 2000 XK8 convertible, beautiful car, only 75,000 miles, but the previous owners wife drove it after it started to overheat, now it looks like the motor is blown. I only paid 2k for the car, and plan on putting around 7500.00 to fix, including new tires. If anyone has any suggestions on finding a used engine, or a descent rebuilt engine, please let me know. A new motor is out of the question as they are around 9500.00. Thanks for your time.

Conversion of engines is science not mechanics. There are several posts around on changing engines. A 4.2L engine does not automatically bolt into a '00 car because of the electronics. The '00 transmission control unit will not work with the later 6 speed transmission as an example.

Search the forum for engine swaps.

Wirth, there is a member here, he's a very good mechanic, works on your MY almost exclusively, has access to many salvage cars and parts, and he has in the past had 4.0 engines for sale (or was he buying...?? can't remember). His stuff is ALWAYS in working order, perhaps he'll see this and respond. Look for jagtechohio in the future.
