Question 2000 XK8 w/premium sound, fixing alternator audio noise with dc filtering?

The problem is noise that is variable with revs, i.e. it's coming from the alternator. I've already eliminated my ipod as a source by running it on its batteries and by connecting it to the butchered cd changer with the ipod in the trunk, so what If I connect a 12 Amp DC line filter like this:

This is the filter in question:
Amazon.com: Pyramid NS12 12 Amp InLine Noise Suppressor: Count Bishops: Electronics

And is it the right fuse? I guess I could add a 10 amp fuse in front of the line filter too to protect it.

BTW: I've found a really good ipod or iphone dock, the Pure I-20, it grabs digital data from the ipod and uses its much higher end dac, amazing results, much much much better than any bluetooth or ipod dock connection, at much higher levels. Happy!

Cheers!

I haven't researched the particulars, but two general comments:

- yes, for sure do use a fuse in the circuit (there was one there before, right?)

- the filter may need to be located physically close to the receiver, rather than in the fuse box, to work best. Might matter, might not. See what the documentation says.

Wanted to do the fuse box as I won't have to mess with the custom cables, or does anyone know where the amp gets its 12V?
