2000 XKR Coupe
I have a friend that has a very good deal to buy a 2000 XKR with 76K om it.
To those that have owned or have this car, what are the problem areas to be concerned about or need to be replaced or fixed at 76k beyond normal mainatnce items?
Have you had good experience with this model and does it seem to have as much power and performance as advertised.
Thanks

An XKR is getting pretty close to a race car for the street, depending on the options it has. With the active sport suspension and Brembo brakes, it is more car than some are ready to deal with. There is a new Road & Track article on street cars that actually have to be detuned to meet race formulas! The new XKR is in that article (the new one is not that much different in performance from the 2000). My car is fun to drive but actually is explosive enough that I hesitate to open it up around other cars. With its very sticky Yokohama Advan Sport tires, it has grip that exceeds my ability to stay in the seat comfortably. It sounds good and gets a lot of looks, all the things that make a great sports car. Any car enthusiast should try something like this before checking out!

I don't have the XKR, but rather the XJR, but the drive train is identical. This is a wonderfully powerful vehicle. The handling for the XK series is better as it is the sports car model. I think you will be pleasantly surprised on the cross between the luxury and the performance. As H2Oboy mentioned there is a plethora of information in the facts that will answer every question you may have, then some! If your friend has the service history on the vehicle, that would be immensely helpful.
If you are comfortable with the demands of this car, I know that everyone on here that has this model will tell you that it will truly be a joy to own.

hello
Its me, the friend. Hello everyone... I really glad to be here.
The XK will be here tomorrow [confirmed to be in Texas]. You folks have helped JazzWineMan and I with his S-type, so I know where to go for info.
"we've got a great link in the sticky titled Frequently Asked Questions i" --- I got FAQ's but 'the sticky'? I'm going to FAQ at the top.
From all you've said, this is gonna be fun.

Welcome
Hi BC,
Welcome to the forum. I'm a fairly new member myself and this forum has been great to help get me through the common problems. I have a red 2000 XKR coupe 29K miles and I love it. I need to get my rearview mirror refurb'd and I still have to tackle the secondary timing chain tensioners - maybe over the holidays, but other than that I've been able to get everything back to perfection. If yours won't be a daily driver I recommend a battery tender - a lot of my earlier "issues" were caused by my battery draining while parked for a few days. I bought a new battery - had the same problems, did the quiescent battery drain check and all was within specs - no circuit leakage. Finally, I bought a Battery Tender (P/N 022-0157-1) and when I'm not driving it I have it plugged up. Apparently these cars are heavy quiescent power users AND they are very sensitive to low battery voltage. Here's to a trouble free ownership!

Hi Ken,
I think that it is kind of cool having something that is a bit different, and somewhat rare. I guess that is part of the draw for these cars, in all the various years, although I'm naturally partial to the 2000 Coupes. I'll definitely drink to your "trouble free ownership"..........I may even get drunk toasting that one!
Regards,
Brian
