2001 Jaguar XK8 engine change
I am just finishing installing a 2003 4.0 engine from a XJ8 into my 2001 XK8. I have a few hoses that I am not sure where they go. On the 2003 engine the crankcase breather hose goes to a purge control valve. I understand the XK8 valve is behind the left front wheel. I can not see where the hose is attached to the valve. A picture would be great.
I also have two small vacuum hoses to the left of the throttle body that I do not know where they go. I think one of the hoses went to the bottom of the 2003 purge control valve.
The swap went real well, no major problems.

The crankcase breather doesn't go to a purge valve. The full load breather on the right side connects to the intake tube. The part load breather on the left side, connects to the manifold normally through a mechanical check valve.
The canister you are thinking of is for the fuel vapor recovery system. It is in the drivers wheel well and there is a tube that runs from that also to the manifold.
I am not as familiar with the 4.0 but those two things may account for the 2 vacuum connections you see. The breather connection should be a pretty good size, maybe 1/2". The evap tube is smaller, perhaps 1/4.
