Default 2001 XK8 Front Lower Control Arms

I was unable to find the answers to my questions (below) so I thought I'd ask them here. I have a 2001 XK8 with loose control arm ball joints.

1) The part numbers are:

Right
Part Number: W0133-1824608

Left
Part Number: W0133-1824603

Is this correct?

2) Will any other part numbers work?

3) Have the new control arms been corrected per the front suspension TSB?

4) Are these control arms truly not serviceable?

5) Are there any refurb/remanufactured (less expensive) ones available?

6) From a safety aspect, what is the level of urgency in getting loose control arms replaced?

7) Was there ever a recall issued for these control arms?

8) Did Jaguar ever provide partial to full financial relief to owners who faced having to pay in the neighborhood of $1200 for a new set of control arms?

Thanks,

Dave

It looks like you have quoted Part Numbers from an aftermarket supplier and not the Jaguar numbers?

Jaguar do not list replacement ball joints but they are available from aftermarket suppliers as are refurbished wishbones.

Check this recent thread for information on replacing ball joints:

Sorry about this, I mis-identified the control arms by car has. I guess it has the follow-on variety. Are these better and less prone to failure?

I still have the questions above too.

Thanks!

Default Bottom Line ... Price

It seems that one control arm typically costs $425+ and the other one costs $625+ for a total of $1050+ for the two control arms.

Does anyone know where there is a pair of lower control arms which cost less? Rebuilt, remanufactured? Perhaps someone bought a pair a while ago with the intent to install them, but they're still on the shelf in the garage?

Thanks!!

You don't need to change the entire arm, just buy the ball joint and have that fitted.

My local Jag mechanic says the ball joints are not serviceable. Does he have a point or is he blowing smoke?

I have read in other places in this forum how Jaguar states the control arms are not serviceable, does not offer the replacement ball joints but that they are available from 3rd party manufacturers.

We supply the OEM balljoints MNC1350AA# (Lemforder) (39.46 each) as well as some aftermarket ones MNC1350AA* (21.88 each). These need to be pressed into the arm.

If your arm needs completely replacing we supply the complete thing for $361.00.

What size torx drive do I need to split the Control Arms? It's quite a bit larger than anything I have.
