Default 2001 XKR convertible hazard switch replacement

The hazard switch on my 2001 XKR is stuck. After pushing it does not spring out again. I have to insert a flat blade around the switch to get it to pop out and then repeat this manoeuvre to turn the hazards off so I am guessing the spring has gone.

Please can someone tell me how to remove the switch so I can replace it? Preferably without having to remove the whole darn centre console.

Is it possible to just replace the (presumed) broken spring as it looks like the hazard switch is integral to the headed seats/traction/fog light switches?

Thanks
Steve

Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but I do believe the only way to access that block of switches is by removing the console assembly. Once you remove the console and bezel holding the radio, climate controls and these switches in place, you'll see all of them are in one block (heated seats, hazards and fogs). After pulling that out, you'll need to remove the back cover for the casing that houses all of the buttons in order to access the mechanism that appears to have broken. I've taken my console out before to install an aftermarket head unit and it isn't too bad, actually. There's a YouTube video that walks you through the process

Unfortunately that is the way to access it.

Check this thread for advice on fixing:

Thank you chaps - and thanks for the link Graham.
Yes, this is definitely my problem. I find the idea of removing the entire console a tad intimidating but guess I will have to bite the bullet at some stage.
The Youtube video looks invaluable - I would never have figured out how to do this -

Well how pleased am I?
I had resigned myself to having to fit a replacement switch panel and all that entails but so far had no luck finding one. A couple of weeks ago I removed the switch cover to access the inner slider (if you are careful you can lever it off in situ without having to remove the entire panel) and soaked the slider in Servisol switch cleaner. At the time it made no difference and was still sticking so I drilled a 1mm hole in the front of the switch cover just above the red triangle and put in a short black plastic bolt (HiFi cartridge mounting kit) just to act as a knob so I could pull the switch out after activating without having to faff around. It's hardly noticeable. Anyway, miracles will never cease because today the switch is as free as a bird and operating perfectly! Guess it just took a good while for the switch cleaner to do its' stuff. Saved me a whole load of hassle and moolah.
