Default 2002 XK8 center console lighting

I have several lights out in the center switch area, basically the seat heater button no longer lights (but it works), and the fog light switches don't light up anymore either. I have not seen how to get in and replace a simple light bulb here (although I have searched the forum and most light questions seem to be speedo related). Can anyone let me know how to replace lights in that center console area?

I installed an IPod connection in my 99xk8 and at the same time I replaced the bulbs at the same time. http://jagrepair.com/IPodInstallBulb...ent1999xk8.htm I hope this helps.

I can help you there.

The backlighting for those buttons are easy to replace (the greenish ones).

The lights, for instance the fogs and the seat heater 'red' bulb is built into eacg buttons, and not accessible by pulling its 'cap' or getting it from the rear...I tried, as my front fog does not light anymore. It didn't look easy to separate either, but maybe if you could, and resolder a new led to replace it, it can be done. I may do that eventually...or send it to my new EE friends on this forum to crack it open.

My thought was to find a breaker part for an 05 or 06 that'll fit..or newest one I can get ahold of. Last one i called says its part of the AC controls, but it isn't, trust me, its totally separate and has its own harness. You should be able to find one. Price...no idea.

If you get one, I'll be able to help you get the old one out of the dash for an R&R swap.

Default great pictures

Thanks for the pictures of the process. Since I have bulbs and also possibly one or more LEDs out, maybe I should try and get a used console switch panel (just the heater switch bankl of switches) from a used parts place....that way I could replace the whole bank of switches once I get in there. If I did that I would of course replace all the bulbs at the same time, but it might be easier than trying to fiddle with the LEDs. Thanks for the help, and the pictures were great of the whole process.

Default Access to radio

I used Gus's excellent sequenced pictures to reattach my harness cable to the middle row of the radio buttons. The fifth picture down on Gus's sequence is the back end of the console - it took me a few minutes to figure it out as it is not captioned.
