Default 2002 xk8 will not crank with clicking under hood (front of car)

Car left me stranded yesterday. Called wrecker. Tried to jump the battery-still would not crank. Fiddled w/lights and fob. Tried it again---it cranked. Got it home, and same thing today. Can't figure it out. HELP!!!

Check your ground cables and charge/change the battery for a fully charged one.

Welcome to the forum. Also check and clean the battery terminal connections, the large fuse connection and the starter cable connection.

Batteries are not cheap for this model car. Its a big unit located in the trunk.
I replaced mine recently with a AGM model from advance auto, that seems to hold a charge better since we do not drive our XK8 on a regular basis.

I also use a Battery Tender Plus once in a while to condition the battery and bring it up to full charge, if the car has sat for a spell.

As others have suggested check the cable connections first for the potential problem. Many times you can turn on the headlights for a clue. If they are bright your battery is probably OK and the cables need cleaning due to corrosion. If the lights are very dim your battery is most likely low and needs charging or replacement assuming the car alt is charging properly.

Just a couple of suggestions from someone that has had that issue a couple of times too.
