Default 2003 XKR Oil Change (new to XKR)

Hello. I did some searching around the site, but did not pick up needed information.

I am going to do my first oil change on this car, and I thought I remembered a thread on "how to" but now I can't find it.

How many quarts of oil for the 2003 XKR?

Where is the oil filter located?

Sorry for the "newb" questions but I would like to do this myself over the weekend.

P.S. I checked the manuals, and there was nothing on the engine or oil.

Thanks,

If you don't have your owners manuals etc here's a link.
They will have MY for your car, it will list the required information you are looking for. Also if you can install the JTIS it's a wealth of information..

Thanks to Graham for this listing

No need to make any apologies for "newb" questions.

Refill capacity (including Oil Filter) is 7.4 US Quarts (7.0 Litres).

For identification purposes, Left and Right are always relative to standing at the rear of the vehicle looking forwards.

The Oil Filter is RH side of the engine above the Oil Pan. Drain Plug is RH front corner of the Pan (arrowed in blue).

You will need to remove the black plastic Alternator Cooling Duct (secured with one hex bolt - arrowed in red) to access the Oil Filter which is above it.

The Duct is often missing and the subject of much discussion on the forum as to whether it serves any useful purpose!

I think I am missing "Vehicle Care Handbook". This could be why I see nothing on the engine

Use the link jamdmyers posted in #2.

All the XK8/XKR handbooks/manuals are available for download as PDF's from there.

I looked thru some of the documentation online. I have a question. After the oil change do I need to reset any service indicators? I don't see it in the the JJM 18 16 14/20 book. If so, what is the procedure to reset the oil change or service indicator?

Thanks,

There is no Service Indicator on the 1996-2006 XK8/XKR.

Nope. No automatic service indicators in these cars that I am aware of. Just keep a good set of manual records of what you did and when you did it....
