Default 2003 XKR Rear Springs

It appears the factory 2003 XKR Rear Springs are no longer available (part JLM21278).

Without going to a lowering spring (like Mina or H&R) is there a drop in replacement?

Thanks!

Looks like forum sponsor SNG Barratt has them.

Thanks but they list as special order only, which I take as out of stock, and then no longer available.

I'm really wondering if there is an in production aftermarket alternative that does not lower.

If you can get a good set from a breaker - always an option and check with some of the forum members who are breaking XK's as they may have what you need. Here are a few others that list them

I have a used set if you want them, removed at about 80k miles. Have the fronts too, but they were starting to sit a little low, which was the reason for changing them out in the first place.

Looks like it would mean shipping across the country but you can have them for the cost to get them to you.

Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Thanks everyone. Especially ccfulton for the very generous offer.

I think my springs are about average for mileage, it's just we are doing shocks so I thought I'd do springs at this time. I told the shop to do what they feel is best, which is probably keep mine unless he can source some NOS.

Again, thanks to everyone here.

I am sorting a car bought from the classified section and it needed more than anticipated but I think when I get it back it will be a great car.

I went with the Adamesh set since they had the smallest drop, so if you do want to do new springs, they might be an option.

Lowering the rear a bit makes the car look a lot better (IMO) and there was no trouble with alignment.

I've been mulling over using lowering springs but have always wondered if it will also negatively affect camber? Without a doubt it's a sleek look.

Lowering springs would definitely result in excessive negative camber and there's not much that can be done on the front to correct it. Forget about the eccentric bolts... they adjust like 0.25 degrees.. almost nothing.

Also most of our springs are so old that they're sagging and have already lowered the car's suspension. Consequently, installing brand new lowering springs may not give you as much drop as expected; plus they're going to be stiffer, which is aa add-on penalty if one is running 19" or larger wheels.

Shims on the 1/2 shafts will reduce the negative camber. XJ8's usually have pretty thick shims. Just 4 nuts/side to install.

The rear camber can be corrected for sure with lowering springs. The shim sets are rather pricy so best to have someone who works on Jaguars regularly do it, else you will likely be buying a bunch of shims so the shop can play guess and check.

The front doesn’t give you many options. Only creative solution I have seen is one forum member who cut a 3/8 shim to put between the shock mount and the body. As I recall he made it from nylon cutting board material. I have thought about getting a polyurethane sheet and doing the same as my car is always on the high end of the spec.
