2004 xk8 suspension issues
I'm sure you guys have been down this road before, but can you give me the quick insight on how to "level" my suspension? I just bought a 2004 XK8 convertible, and the front end is low... the rear looks jacked up. The car has 97k on it, so I assume the front springs may be done. The upper plates aren't bad looking, but if I do springs, I will certainly do the upper plates as well. Factory red foam, or the aftermarket polyurethane upper plate kits recommended? will this allow the rear to come back down? I read a thread that makes me think the cars with CATS may be high in the rear to begin with. Any insights. The car is awesome. Just sorting it out. BTW, it has 19" double 5's on it. Thanks one and all!

Post #2 will give you some insight into what the height is supposed to be.

Tired springs at that mileage seems unlikely unless the car has seen some pretty severe use. Most that have had problems with springs are more like double that mileage.
More likely would be the upper shock mounts, and a common symptom is a clunk or rattle like sound when going over speed bumps. If the shock mounts are completely dead, replacing them is usually good for about 1/2in or so of ride height.
CATS wont change the ride height, only the firmness of the shock. An easy way to tell if you have cats is to look at the top of the front shock towers. If there is a wire, you have the adaptive suspension.
