2004 xkr window drop on opening
Hi all
I know the window drops slightly on opening door then shuts.
With the engine off, you open the passengers door, the window drops about3cm...if you pull the handle again, it drops another 3cm etc etc until it is fully open....only way to get it up is turn on ignition and manually close it.
Any thoughts ??
TIA

Have you tried the window reset procedure? (Symptom of a low battery.)

Run the Window Up and Hold, Run the window down and hold. Do both sides.
There should be a noise on the hold to confirm, but I can't hear it on my car.
Windows should work properly, again.

Get in the car and close the door. Lower the window and don't release until you hear a click. Then raise the window and don't release until you hear a click. They should work fine now. If it happens again it's probably time for a new battery.
With the car running and the doors closed, reset the window by lowering the window fully and holding the down switch until you hear a faint click (~3-4 seconds), then immediately close the window fully and hold down the button similarly until you hear the click (~3-4 seconds). This will reset the travel limits, if you still have an issue report back.

doowopfix,
The reset procedure as others have told you, is easy and will solve the problem. However, that it happened at all in the first place is indicative of a dying battery. You might want to have it tested.

Did this occur only on the passenger's door window, and not the drivers door window at the same time? I know that the 'window drop' is indicative of a dying, or an undercharged battery possibly caused by a parasitic drain, but when it occurs, does it not erase both of the door's window travel limit memory simultaneously? When this symptom presented on my '03 XKR, both doors lost their window travel limit memory, and had to be reset. This was due to a low battery caused by a parasitic drain from the ignition cylinder 'door/flap' not closing completely, and thus not allowing the car to enter 'sleep mode' thereby draining the battery in ~36 hours.
I am asking because I read somewhere on the forum that a failing door latch micro-switch can produce the same 'window drop' as a dying, or low battery does. However, it only presents on the door with the failing latch micro-switch, i.e. the passenger door, as originally posted. If the problem should return, and is isolated to the same door only, I would suspect the door latch micro-switch of failure.

Logic says that you are right and both windows should be affected by a dying battery.
I haven't had the opportunity to have it tested yet as it is not used as a daily driver, but kept in the garage on a charger that cuts out when battery is fully charged, as it is at the moment.
In the meantime, if this should happen again I will certainly have the door latch micro-switch checked out if the battery proves healthy on test.
Thank you for your input, it is appreciated.
