The 4.2-S (UK) and Victory (US) were the run out special editions of the XK8 and XKR.
The very last XKR with chassis number A48684 rolled off the production line at Browns Lane on 27th May 2005 and is now part of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection.

Can there be a 2005 Victory Edition I am seeing for sale by a dealer?......or r they mistaken?
All listings everywhere r for 2006's (final year) !!
Shall I ask them to tell me they production mo/yr on the engine tag?

It looks as if the dealer is giving the actual year of manufacture rather than the Model Year.
Jaguar way of applying Model Year isn't the same as calendar year. Their new MY begins in the middle of the actual year. 2006MY began in 2005.
The 4.2-S and Victory cars were all built during 2005 but are often termed 2006MY. There's a figure quoted by author Graham Robson in 'Jaguar XK8 - The Complete Story' of 1148 new XK8/XKR's sold in the USA in 2006 which was a minimum seven months after they left the factory. They would all be registered new to their owners in 2006.
The Victory spec is very obvious when you see the cars. Does the dealer have the one you're viewing on the web?

I was thinking that to Graham, I hope the price doesn't go up if they find it is really an '06!

Our 2006 Victory Edition convertible was built in May 2005 and sold new in Beverly Hills, California on June 30, 2005. My understanding is that the Victory Edition was only offered for the final year (2006 model) of the XK8 series....
Hi again,
Is there a way to look up ( by VIN #) what number a production car is in the run of the 1050 made ???
The factory date on vehicles plate is 12/04 so it must be early on.....wouldnt it be great if it was # ONE !!!
Thx

I don't believe that there were all that many significant things other than cosmetic that make it a "Victory Edition"--different badges, different car mats, all options present, and maybe the wood veneer.

Yes - the Victory and S models were only cosmetic differences. No performance mods.

As asked by Gary
Sorry Gary,
As with all Jaguar special editions, VIN's are not consecutive - they are built on the line at intervals, with variously specified models being assembled between them.
