I have a 2005 XK8 which has been left for a time. The battery went flat. I fitted a new one but the car won't start. I'm thinking it's the immobilizer (UK model) but cannot remember how to reset this. I recall a reset being necessary once before and maybe turning the key one way or the other a few times.

Thanks in anticipation.
Hey Man... When you say doesn't start does this mean that when you turn the key nothing happens, that when you turn the key it cranks but won't start, the when you turn the key it starts for a moment or tries to - ?
Need more info.
The inertia switch takes a second to check. Use that great diagram above, get down in there and feel for it to reset it. Try the key again.
How long did it sit for?
Is there a schrader valve anywhere on the fuel rail for the NA 2005 XK8? A place where you check to see if there is fuel pressure at the rail? It's possible, that if the car sat, that the fuel pump is all gummed up and not spinning for ya.
It's a bit tricky because I was not actually present at the time. I'm 2,000 Kms away. My friend accessed via the secret boot key. The battery was changed. The engine did not crank on ignition. There was nothing, though lights lit up. The car has been left for a long time (another story) so I realise there will probably be issues. It was though covered and in an underground car park.
