Default 2005 XK8 seat upholstery

My seats are a little worn but not too bad. The problem is that I slide around a bit in the seat when cornering. My wife says they are too slippery. Has anyone else had this issue? Are there any better choices for this car? I am OK with new upholstery and some covers.

Probably the initial lack of bolster in the design and then with useage what was there has flattened out. I looked into this quite a bit and concluded that the limited original (oem) Recaro Seats are the best solution.
Good luck

Take your car to an automotive / marine upholstery shop and get a handful of legitimate solutions from real experts in the field.

During several decades of classic m/c and classic auto restorations I’ve gone the route of buying pre-cut seat upholstery and also gone the other route of taking the seats to a specialty shop. There no comparison when viewing the final product. The artisans at the upholstery shops can give you better looking and more comfortable seats at usually a very reasonable price. And give you many options when it comes
to comfort, looks, and wear. I’ve often ended up with seats that looked 100% original but had a dramatic improvement in comfort and durability. Then there’s the extended range of options that can be had if originality is not a concern.

just my 2 cents.

The shops I went to were all very expensive. The leather I purchased off ebay was very good. I did have them professionally installed to get the right tension. IF you can find a shop that is reasonable that is great, but I would say good luck with that.

BTW, it is also pretty inexpensive to replace the carpet, it makes a world of difference.

The pain from spending is intense , but fleeting and temporary.

The enjoyment from sitting on fine automotive upholstery is ongoing for years and years.

That’s how I accept temporary monetary discomforts as being a good deal for me.
