2006 XK8 door mirrors question
My 2006 XK8 owner manual says that the door mirrors can be turned inwards by pushing the toggle in reverse. The manual also says that there is a setting to dip the mirrors when in reverse for parking.
For some reason, this feature doesn't function on my XK8. I checked the VIN decoder but it only says the vehicle is equipped with Power heated body-color mirrors.
Can anyone confirm if the inward turn/parking option was standard on 2006 XK8's?

Not sure if the 2006 system would be the same as my 1997 but .......... just to be clear on how mine works.
Providing the car is moving at less than 10 mph, and the selector switch is in the mid position, then pulling the toggle backwards (towards you) should fold both mirrors. After ten seconds, pulling it again towards you should unfold them both back out.
If the selector switch is set to the nearside (depends on country I guess ?), then, with the car in reverse, pulling the toggle switch backwards will dip the mirror a few degrees to be able to see the kerb. Taking the car out of reverse will automatically return the mirror to its correct position.

My 2006 XK8 owner manual says that the door mirrors can be turned inwards by pushing the toggle in reverse.
Have you tried the "correct" procedure - if it doesn't work, then either there's a fault, or it wasn't factory installed.
With engine running - car stopped - selector switch in mid position - pull the toggle back towards you. Do mirrors fold ?
Even if they don't, the "reverse dip" should be available.
With engine running - put car in reverse - selector switch to "nearside" position - pull toggle switch briefly towards you. Does mirror dip 15 or so degrees. If so, when gear selector back into neutral - does mirror return to normal position ?
Neither "Pushing the toggle (when the car is in) in reverse" or "Pushing the toggle in reverse" (i.e. backwards) will have any effect whatsoever.

The folding mirrors were only with the power-fold option that was always an extra (unless maybe they were standard on the special last year models). Moreover, these were apparently much rarer on cars in the US versus Europe.
As far as the "dip" function when parking--that is standard but the implementation of this feature is awkward (gear selector must be in reverse and then you play with the toggle). My wife's Acura has a similar feature but it is automatic--no need to play around with toggles.

2006 XK8 door mirrors question
Thanks again for all the input. I finally figured out that the folding mirror was not installed on the vehicle. The mirror on the passenger side does, in fact, dip if I manually toggle the switch while in reverse. A great help when parallel parking.
Agreed, it would have been better if the dip was connected with the reverse shift.
