2006 XKR "chirp" in rear when shifting
Folks,
I have a 2006 XJR convertiable, 50K miles. When I'm doing any amount of acceration, I get a quick "chirp" sound, (wife says it's like a dog bark) from the rear of the car when shifting from 2nd to 3rd (I think).
Curious if anyone has thoughts. It seems like it's the left/rear side.

Unfortunately it is the transmission. I had this same problem with my XKR and beginning to have the same problem with my vdp. It lead to a new transmission on my xkr. Search transmission "whoop" or "bark" in the archives on this site and you will find much more information.
good luck

This is a very common issue on the Jaguar auto box. There is an additive that the dealer puts in the auto box that usually sorts it.
If you still have the problem after the additive it means a new box.
If it only does it on very hard kickdown i wouldnt worry about it as the car is fast enough on normal kickdown and it doesnt mean the box is on the way out

Be careful, the chirp is not deadly, it is a sticking E clutch and can go on without problems according to ZF. It is annoying and I did get rid of it.
To get rid of it, get the tranny oil , pan and filter kit from CTSC.com and have an indie install it. The noise will stop. Teh problem is obviously in the original oil fill. the new Lifeguard 6 fluid corrects the additive package and the sticking clutch stops sticking. The tranny will shift like new afterwards but it will cost you about $400 to fix it.
