I have to say one thing that they all have in common seems the clean interiors. Seems as if there has been no wear and tear on the seats. There also doesn't seem to be any mention about mechanical upgrades, timing chain tensioners, water pumps, etc. It appears prices are holding.
There are several opportunities for sellers and potential bidders to meet for questions prior to it going across the auction block – right up to the last minute. I find that most of the enjoyment of attending the event is not so much watching the auctions, but rather strolling through the humongous tents out back in which the hundreds of cars are on display – both before and after they’re sold. The sold ones show the sales prices. Here you can get close-up looks, kick the tires, etc. Often the cars are unlocked. Two years ago William Shatner was there auctioning his Aston DB-7 and Volkswagen Phaeton. Imagine my joy as a dyed-in-the-wool ‘Trekkie’ to be able to sit in Captain Kirk’s Aston Martin! This year Burt Reynolds was there auctioning his 1980 Pontiac Trans Am Indy Pace Car, which sold for $110,000.
