I've almost got the intake manifold off my 06 4.2, but not sure about the fuel line connection to the fuel rail. I pried the locking clip off and I think the line should just pull apart, but it isn't happening. Before I use too much force and damage something I thought I would check here.

 

The connection is a common Ford fuel line that needs a common tool.

The A/C and fuel lines use this type of tool.

Internet search for the special tool.

So I finally get to use the release tool I bought several years ago for the fuel tank fittings and never needed. I had never seen this type of fitting up close before.

 

Can you post a photo of that tool? I want to see if it looks like the fuel filter hose removal tool that I purchased a few years ago but have never needed to use....

 

Assuming it works I'll do that later this morning.

 

I'm embarrassed that I didn't think of the AC/Fuel Line tools last night. Simple when you know what you're doing.

 

Good job RJ, looks like the early 90's fuel line to rail connection. I've used my set a few time also. Just pull straight & easy :-)

 

Hmm, never knew that tool worked on that fitting. I ended up using that same tool further upstream on that same fuel supply line, somewhere by the inner fender. It has a more conventional layout (to me) and easily reachable. Thanks for the heads up.
