Default 4.2: replacement Nissens radiator and thermostat housing?

Hello colleagues, I have two questions about my XK8 4.2 (2003):
- Is Nissens 66701 the correct radiator replacement for my car?
- The thermostat housing was leaking at the top of the expansion hose, and when I tried to attach a new hose to the coolant reservoir, the fastener at the top broke off when I touched it. I had already purchased the thermostat housing.I closed it with a screw and filled the reservoir with coolant.
Can I drive the car to the repair shop, which is about 20 miles away, or is there a risk?

Thanks in advance! Bernd from Cologne

Sorry to hear you had just purchased that thermostat housing. There is a metal housing replacement kit available for your car . I’m sure SNG Barratt has them . That’s what you are going to need to buy. The plastic housings are nothing but trouble. Or so I have heard here on the forum. I have the XKR which already has the metal housing.

As far as I know there is no metal housing for the 4.2? Anway - I have bought already a new plastic one and if it will last again about 20 years, it will be fine for me.

^^ Be aware that kit is from URO (some of their parts are of dubious quality)....

And the 4.2 thermostat housing looks totally different. The link shows a 4.0 thermostat housing. The mentioned Jaguar cross reference AJ82217 in the offer from the link above is also a 4.0 housing.

Anybody with an answer to my other questions? ;-) Thx!

They come and go for the 4.2. One day it's on ebay and the next they are all gone.
