4.2L #1 cyl at TDC question
Are there any timing marks that show when cylinder #1 is at TDC?
Reason for asking is that I want to do a leak down test on cylinder #2 as a compression check had #2 a bit lower than the others by about 10%. I know not much, but this was the only cylinder that was different, all others were almost exactly the same. I did #2 three times and got the same number each time.
Also is my thinking correct here?...
The 4.2L engine firing order is 1-2-7-3-4-5-6-8; with 90° of crankshaft rotation between each firing? Then if I can find #1 TDC, rotate crank 90° and I will have #2 at TDC?
I suppose I could use the ole long piece of plastic tube down the spark plug hole, rotate engine stopping when plastic tube reaches it highest point when the piston is at the top. But this does not tell me if on compression or exhaust stroke. Of course if cylinder does not hold any pressure, rotate crank 360°.
If there is a timing mark, would save me a bit of time.
THANKS
