Hey has anyone any experience with a non Jaguar trans pan/filter? RockAuto has the ATP B409 trans pan/filter for $85 which is sure alot cheaper than the Jaguar C2C38963 prices I am finding.


I plan on using the MERCON fluid instead of the Life stuff.

We used this vendor also. The parts were excellent and S&H was free. They even sent me 1 extra T40 bolt w/o cost due to us damaging the head on one during install. No leaks and cheap enough to do another change incl filter next time. Very pleased with their product and service. Mercon SP has done great!

 

In my opinion, your decision is really between an original ZF part (maker of the transmission) vs. some other manufacturer. I would not necessarily put too much weight on the part being from Jaguar.

Otherwise, there are PLENTY of sellers on eBay. Some kits even have the new screws with the larger bit, a gasket and the pan/filter. Prices vary a lot.

 

Thanks for all the replies; when I stated Jaguar part I did not mean that the trans pan/filter was made by Jaguar, just using the Jaguar part number.


I sure like all the choices when searching using 6HP26 trans pan/filer....and quite right about the range of prices.


Appears that some pan/filters have a separate gasket and other have the gasket molded-in....any comments on this?

The pan has a groove in it, and the gasket is meant to fit in it standing up, so to speak. It is not a traditional gasket sitting flat. You might see some pictures with the gasket already fitted in the pan, and others where the gasket is separate. As far as I know, no adhesive is required to secure the gasket to the pan, so it is really up to the eBay seller to post a picture one way or the other. Should not really be a factor in your purchase decision.

 

You can get the gasket as a separate item.
