98 xk8 100kit missing badly
IT feels like a rapid miss fire under light load after driving a while, ease off the gas and it smooth's out. No check light. Work just down, replaced condenser and had valve covers off because of leaks. chains etc. have been changed. It feels like it goes out of time, it also was surging but that seems to have gone away. Am I looking at throttle body, mass air, air leaks.I can't see it in the cam train but it gets worse the longer I drive it. I've tried the old carb cleaner to check for air leak's. Is this some thing I have created or a new problem. Feels like its going over a bumpy road or a flat tire. Now the window goes down when I use the exterior door handle. HALLOWOWEN COMING EARLY THIS YEAR. Thanks for any in put.

Two quick thoughts so we can be more helpful.
1. You need to check for diagnostic codes...if you don't have the scanner to do this yourself, take to an Autozone, Advance Auto, etc and they'll do it for you. Post the code numbers (if any) here and that will help us help you.
2. These cars are notorious for exhibiting a wide range of strange behaviors when the battery is less than full charge. While you're at the auto parts store, have them check your battery. If it's anything less than 100% perfect, replace it.

Thank you coupe, my scanner was not picking anything up so I am going to someone with a different scanner in a couple of days if I can make it there. The battery had crossed my mind and I will also get that checked out, I will charge it up and see if that makes a difference. Thanks again for your input, I really new some help.

COUPE. I was going to get the battery checked today but there was an hours wait so I went for a 10 mile drive. Before I started out I cleaned the post well, On my run to the shop the idle was high, about 1200rpm on stopping and restart the idle went back to normal and I have had no more problems with miss fire. I now need to give it a proper run to see how It behaves. I will keep you posted. THANKS AGAIN FOR PUTTING me onto the battery which is 4 yrs old, maybe time for a new one.
