Default 98 xkr coil springs

Howdy, ive failed the MOT (UK annual test ) with a broken front coil spring, it has cats. Has anybody got the actual part number or cross reference number please, i'm not bothered about genuine parts. I may buy2 , just in case. Bear in mind, i'll be buying in UK.
I've been onto various companies sites but there are various options and numbers, just when I thought i'd found a cert' match with Rimmers it cross ref'd as an S-type part .
Thanks , Wag
VIN ends in 027576

If it was me, I'd swap in a pair of springs from a later model XKR (like an 05) from a breaker.

Chances you will get a new spring to match your old spring are low, so you'll likely need a pair.

Swapping springs is not hard, it is just is a slippery slope where you could uncover a lot of other, hidden things that may need fixing (and some of them are hard).

All X100 springs will physically fit. The XKR's are stiffer than XK8's, the convertible springs are slightly taller, so you want XKR and your bodystyle.

There are things the springs mount too that are weaker than the springs and I worry when someone tells me "broken spring" it may be the lower mounting pan.

Wag, I'm over here in Texas but maybe I can help you find a set of Springs to get your 1998 XK up and running again...I found a place in Scotland that seems to have just about anything you could ever want for a XK8-XKR. Why don't you call or email Dave at DCR Auto Parts at: T: +44 (0)1456 450756 M: +44 (0)780 1495324 E: enquiries@dcrautoparts.com
I've ordered several things from Dave that I couldn't find here in the USA and received them very quickly way over here in Texas...Dave seems like a really nice Guy!

Wag.
DCR are good, but I usually use S N G Barratt simply because their web-site and catalogues (online and printed) are excellent for tracking down exact part numbers.
I think you need JLM20706 if it's a convertible, and JLM20689 for a Coupe.

Thanks David, I bought this off a farmer near Exeter in a sort of 'sold as seen' situation, I 'm very pleased with the fail-sheet, as it hadn't moved for 9 months. It's got paramount gear too, an air filter clean out made a world of difference.

Happy to be contradicted if I got it wrong, but looks like S N G Barratt comes out at £232 including tax, and DCR at £229 including tax.

Not sure what (if any) difference in shipping but I suspect they end up costing pretty much the same.

Edit ..................had another look and although I can find the above prices, there are also 'aftermarket' springs from DCR and the S N G Barratt are probably 'aftermarket' for the convertible but Jaguar OEM for the Coupe. . I wouldn't have thought it would make much difference, so I would go with the cheaper ones from Dave Roche.

Wag, Now don't go around telling people all that stuff....You might get them thinking I'm a nice guy or something......Can't have that!

I probably will never meet Dave or ever get up to Scotland but apparently it's a beautiful place in the Summer time! A little to far North in the Winter!

Glencoe area and Skye are double beautiful, we used to do mountain training up there, in the Marines, sometimes the midges are bad though.
