hello everyone,i'm new to this forum and have owned jags in the past [95 and 96 xj6's],loved them.i have the since found a 99 xk8 coupe, after looking for the last two years to find the right one in double black.my question is i would like to contact jaguar corp.or dealer to find out info on what repairs were done to this car over its lifetime.to see what they have already done ,and mostly timing tensioner repairs...thank you.

My understanding is that many dealers will not provide vehicle histories to anyone other than the vehicle's owner. Those records will not include any maintenance or repairs performed on a vehicle which were carried out at a service facility that is not a Jaguar dealership.

Evaluation of the car in its present condition will likely reveal alot more than its paper trail, no matter how complete the records may be.

My new dealer did look up the old repair history from the original dealer. It was nice to know that the door handles had been replaced (odd, but understandable, they take a beating in a vert) along with all of the TSBs and recalls associated with the car.

Get to know your new dealer service advisor well, and he too may look into the past for you.
