That you had 2 2000 xkr's with the aj26 motor means that the motor he bought might be the right one after all. It has that black cylinder by the throttle body that I think indicates it's a '98 or '97 motor...is it the cruise control assist or something?!!!


He said he paid $5k for it and will take $3k for it, already connected to his 2000 'r' transmission.


How can you determine if his 2000 xkr came with the aj26?

 

Get the chassis number and give Jaguar a call.......

 

AJ27 has a CMPS ON BOTH HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he has already acetained the engine is an AJ26.... Its wether or not the car itself had an AJ26 fitted or an AJ27...... Ask for a pic of the engine bay and see if you can see a coil pack plug.......

 

It's pretty moot now. I bought the body without the drivetrain and have both cars at the body shop for the transfer of the front clip to mine. The man has a supercharged motor mated to his original transmission. He paid $5000 for the motor, supposedly a 33k motor. He wants to sell it. If anybody is interested in it, I can put you in contact with him. He offered to sell the motor AND transmission for $3,000. I offered $2k for it but no go.
