ABS and DSC light

ABS and DSC light
All,
I am new to the forum and hope someone can help?
I have a 2003 XK8 with an intermittent abs and dsc light. if you start up and it comes on and you stop the car unlock and then lock the door and start the car again the light goes out?
On the SUN diagnostics it comes up ABS sensor (Or harness). I had 1 replaced previously and the light came on again within an hour?
Any body else had this issue?
Also does anyone know of a specialist who can be trusted to diagnose in the Portsmouth/Southampton area?
Many thanks
Chris

Chris,
LOTS of threads on ABS issues here: Google 'abs error xk8'
I imagine if the Sun diagnostic can report a sensor fault that it should also be able to tell you which one?
Can be a faulty sensor. but more likely a bad connection. The fronts are more prone than the rears due to flexing with the steering or stretching if the wring isn't dressed properly.
Disconnect and remove each sensor in turn and give it a clean, particularly the sensing end opposite the plug. It's a good time also to clean the toothed reluctor ring on each hub. ensuring that it's not loose in any way.
Carefully inspect the connector for corrosion and/or bent pins, and give it a spray with electrical contact cleaner before reassembly. Also check the wiring for cuts and chafing.
HTH,
Mike

If you are getting the fault light on start up and then after the engine is running and you shut off and restart it is telling you the battery is on its way out of commission.
When the battery sits and voltage the abs, dsc or on mine traction control at start up don't have sufficient voltage to communicate and the fault appears. These particular modules are high power consumers.
Get the battery load tested

ditto on the battery check. Car may seem to start fine, etc. But like it was said there are many devices in these cars that MUST have the right voltage to work right otherwise they can get stupid and start throwing check lights out of the blue. Get it load tested for sure. I think it should load test out to 12.3 volt I THINK? below that the battery is weak and should be replaced. Someone can check my volt number, I may be off on that.
