Tanngo bought a set of Xenon headlamps and is wondering if anyone knows how to adapt them to the wiring of the stock unit.

Am I right in thinking that he needs to buy a ballast?

He says the headlamps are complete and include transformers. The connectors are different from those on the lens (optics). He needs to acquire the wiring diagram to adapt to the new lamp's connectors.

I think this is what he means. I had to dig out a RAE dictionary because some of the words are used differently between countries.

You have to make a loom up...... What I do if I can not get a hold of the original plugs is using speaker female spade connectors attach wires to the light, on to the wires fit a plug of some description which is weather proof (easily bought on ebay) do not cut the oiginal plug off but splice into the loom with more wires and attach the other end of the plug. Fill the plug connection up in the lamp with silicone so the spade connectors can not touch...

Yes you will have to decipher what does what, this is not hard just connect the earth and a power source (battery) and take notes. The only thing you will not be able to do is rig up the auto leveling but I never worry about that.

There are wiring diagrams in the How To section at the top of the forum..... I did use to have the pin out written down but I cant seem to find them

Tony, he installed the lamps as per your instructions. He said upon turning on the headlamps, they automatically go up and down, (I imagine this looks like the car is blinking) and he doesn't have auto-regulation device/module/whatchamacallit, on his '01 XKR. Where is he to set the level on the new lamps?
